Loose River

I’m not entirely sure how we stumbled across Loose, but I am so glad we did. We found a gorgeous local pub which was fantastic (click the link for our review), then after our lovely meal, the owners recommended a country walk to work off the roast dinner and sticky toffee pudding. We walk along the river, where the kids promptly kick off their shoes and join the other children paddling. The dog runs up the hill chasing birds and frolicking with a spaniel. Meanwhile, we walk along with the meandering pathway hand in hand, watching the kids laughing and playing. I know it sounds tacky, but seriously, it’s dreamy.

As you approach the end of the bridleway, beyond the river, you can wander down little alleyways and tiny country paths, looking at the quaint cottages on one side and rolling hills on the other. We walked for around 3 hours, stopping now and then to take in the view, say hello to the cows and the sheep or climb a tree. The best moment was when we all laid on the grass looking up at the clouds and all of a sudden 5 or 6 hot air balloons immerged from behind the trees. Apparently, this is a common sight in this area, and it was magical.

Our afternoon walk was a real break from the standard typical Sunday. It was such a wonderful way to spend a few hours together with our new puppy, Ernie, in the great outdoors. This place really is worth a visit. I’ll just let the slide show do the talking while you go and grab your car keys and tap the postcode ME15 0BL into Google Maps. You’re welcome!
