Austyn is obsessed with In The Night Garden so for his birthday we headed off to Alton Towers to stay in the CBeebies Land resort in a fabulous “In The Night Garden” suite.
CBeebies Hotel has a range of suites from Bugbies rooms (which are the cheeky little yellow blobs that bounce around our TV screens), Octonauts, Postman Pat, Something Special and a Swashbuckle room. Each room designed around its specific theme, so we went expecting a WOW factor but my goodness, it was more than a wow; it was a waa waa wee waa WOW! The hotel is relatively new, so everything is immaculate and the attention to detail from the bathroom to the corridors outside, the lifts – everything is as if you have stepped into a toddler’s dream world.
Throughout the day, when you aren’t in the park you can spend the day in CBeebies hotel enjoying the many activities they have on offer. There is literally everything and anything from 7am to 9pm, so whether you’ve got a night owl or an early riser, you know there will be more than enough on offer for them.
So what is on from 7-9? Well, of course, you have crazy golf, you have the theme park itself, the waterpark (absolutely fantastic), the amusement arcade areas throughout the central hotel, the cinema, numerous restaurants, and bars to choose from, not forgetting the entertainment in the CBeebies hotel. Your little ones can enjoy CBeebies on the big screen from 7am followed by Get Up & Go active, meet your favourite CBeebies characters, there’s puzzles and stories, music and dance plus so much more. Finally, it all ends with a beautiful stargazing show and a bedtime story complete with a dimmed ambiance, twinkling lights and bean bags scattered around as small people doze off with their blankets.
It actually bought a little tear to my eye seeing them all laying there exhausted from their day and enjoying a bedtime story…
Labeled as “Vegas for kids” by the media – it is! CBeebies hotel is fabulous, but we ventured briefly to the main hotel and enjoyed a little G&T around a wonderfully ornate pirate ship with the most friendly helpful staff.
We were there during December for the Santa Experience; however, in the Summer, there are some lovely grounds to wander around. It is a wonderland.
And we haven’t even got to the theme park itself yet! There are 15 rides and attractions your little one can enjoy however you might want to check the age and height restrictions as poor Austyn was a little upset he wasn’t allowed on everything he wanted to go on, mainly “Go Jetters” which was a real shame.

Of course, the winning thing for Austyn was meeting some characters he knows and loves. Especially his favourite being Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy but of course, our experience wouldn’t have been complete without seeing Father Christmas and the iconic Snowman “we’re walking in the air!!!” fella. The elves at the grotto were super friendly, and our trip through the Christmas tree forest was a lovely sparkling walk finally being greeted by a real-life cuddly authentic Father Christmas, and a little soft toy Baby Moo snuggled up with in his buggy before promptly falling asleep after a hectic day.
The bad points of CBeebies Land? We only stayed one night and despite the monotonous sound of the CBeebies theme tune going around in my head – this is a kids dream and a parents heaven – there is SO much to do, so much to see, your little one won’t stop laughing and smiling and you’ll all just have a wonderful experience! You’ll certainly want to stay more than just one night though, that’s for sure, I didn’t think I would say this, but I was really sad to leave. Worth every penny.
