Cara and I have known each other via the nursery industry since around 2001, so it’s a privilege to review her fantastic product, Snoozeshade.
For the first time ever, instead of just looking at the product at tradeshows with children who were too old to benefit from it, now that Austyn has arrived, I can finally put it through its paces.
Of course, if you haven’t heard of Snoozeshade, it is precisely that. A shade that allows little ones to maintain their sleep patterns wherever they may be. For example, there are two varying designs; one for the pushchair and one for the car seat. Both are a universal fit for all shapes and sizes of pushchair and car seat – there’s even one available for travel cots which are perfect, if like us, you are avid campers.
The concept for Snoozeshade came about when Cara’s daughter Holly started to sit up and take notice of the world, refuse nap time when out and about which would, more often than not, result in a tired, grumpy little madam when it came to meal times.
We’ve all been there, haven’t we…?
Personally, our main issue was when we were out at restaurants. We wanted to eat our meal without being interrupted, but as soon as our food was served, we were usually faced with rock-paper-scissors on who was dealing with the baby!
Panic would rise over us as our waitress approached the table, and those big blue eyes would go BING “wide awake”, and then you knew the meal you were looking forward to was instantly ruined.
Queue evil acid heartburn, cold dinner and a grumpy tired baby.
Well, no more! Snooze away, little cherub, while I thoroughly enjoy my meal…
I was on my own with the three boys when I first tried Snoozeshade. Despite a missed nap, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal without any interruption. Austyn slept soundly, and I finally managed to engage in conversation with the older two over dinner.
A parent speaking to older children!! Having a relatively adult conversation as my youngest snoozed quietly next to me!!! I couldn’t believe it!
Snoozeshade has definitely made a massive difference to our parenting and Austyn’s routine. He’s been so much happier since being able to maintain his nap times while on the go.
The great thing about Snoozeshade products is that you can quickly peek in on your little one to check they’re safe and sound. You can feel rest assured that they’re calm, cool and comfortable. The fabric is fully breathable and protects against harmful UV rays, but more importantly, it stops those inquisitive weary eyes from wandering when they should be snoozing.
At times when we have been on the beach or camping, I have been concerned that Austyn would be asleep and getting too hot. During nap times when we weren’t using Snoozeshade, he would wake up with his hair stuck to his forehead and a very sweaty back. Since we have been using Snoozeshade on the pram, he wakes up cool, calm and collected ready to take on the day again and have some fun, as opposed to sticky, grumpy and irritated. Which makes life far easier for us, resting safely in the knowledge he’s having a long uninterrupted nap, not overheating and being protected from harmful UV rays.
We have always maintained that it’s essential to establish a routine with little ones from an early age and ensure that an eat, sleep and play method is firmly in place, so they do not feed when tired. It’s so important they do not play when hungry or are chilling down when they should be enjoying tummy time and exploring.
The Snoozeshade allows you to go about your typical day shopping, socialising or running errands and not impacting on your little one’s nap routine. It also doubles up as the perfect way for introducing your child to noise and movement instead of silence in a cot. Snoozeshade is a lifesaver.
